Job Title: Production Associate I / Assembler

Pay Rate: $17-$18/hr. + $1.25/hr. shift differential for 2nd shift
Location: East Providence, RI
Duration: Temp-to-Perm


Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:30 PM


Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Production Associate I / Assembler performs a variety of hands-on and semi-automated assembly, inspection, testing, packaging, labeling, and material processing tasks to meet production requirements. Responsibilities may include working with small components, operating equipment and specialized fixtures, performing quality inspections, completing production documentation, and identifying defective or nonconforming products. Employees must be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, flexible, and willing to learn and cross-train in multiple production areas.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assemble products and components according to established procedures, work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Manually place small components into assemblies, apply adhesives or epoxy, and position parts for UV curing when required.
  • Perform secondary assembly operations such as bending, cutting, tip guarding, and other material processing tasks.
  • Operate semi-automated machinery, production equipment, fixtures, jigs, scales, and inspection tools as required.
  • Assemble, package, and label finished products while accurately completing production records and documentation.
  • Perform in-process and finished product inspections for dimensional, cosmetic, and workmanship requirements.
  • Perform quality inspections and sorting activities, including 100% inspection when required, to identify and separate defective or nonconforming material.
  • Use basic measuring and inspection equipment to verify product specifications.
  • Set up and use scales to accurately count and record production quantities.
  • Identify, tag, and report suspect or rejected product according to established procedures.
  • Complete rework as necessary on products that do not meet specifications.
  • Generate product labels using computer-based labeling systems as needed.
  • Complete required quantities according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Accurately record counts, inspection results, and other required production information.
  • May assist with equipment setup, calibration, and routine preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety and environmental procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other production areas to resolve quality or production issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential problems and providing feedback on processes or methods.
  • Cross-train in other production and quality areas and perform additional duties as needed.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, machine operation, or industrial experience preferred
  • Prior quality inspection experience is a plus.
  • Experience using scales or basic measuring equipment is preferred.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be comfortable learning new equipment, processes, and procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with small parts.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to identify defects and recognize acceptable versus nonconforming product.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to accurately complete production documentation.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as required for the position and workplace safety.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • May sit or stand for extended periods while performing repetitive assembly and inspection tasks.
  • Regularly uses hands and fingers to handle, assemble, and inspect materials and components.
  • Frequently reaches with hands and arms and may occasionally walk throughout the production area.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close attention to detail and sufficient vision to inspect small components, including color and dimensional attributes.
  • May occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, vibration, and manufacturing chemicals.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Safety glasses or appropriate corrective safety eyewear are required.
