Interpreter - All languages DC, Maryland, Virginia

SLUSA is looking for spoken foreign language interpreters. We encourage interpreters in all languages to apply however, our largest needs are typically Spanish, Amharic, Dari, Farsi, Persian, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, French, All Chinese dialects, Burmese, Tigrinya.

Interpreters should reside in or around the DC metro region including northern Virginia and all of Maryland.

Work volume will depend on the number of requests we have for interpreting service in your language(s)

Every interpreter must have a minimum of 2 years documented and verifiable professional experience as well as language proficiency scores showing a high professional level (typically C-1 on the CEFR scale or level 3 on ILR scale however we accept language proficiency scores from any credentialed institute).

Interpreters with Bridging the Gap completion, CCHI and/or NBCMI are highly encouraged to apply. If you do not have any of these certifications, you will be required to after you have been onboarded and have picked up work.

Interpreting services range from medical, educational, business, immigration, legal, social work, etc.

Hourly rate is determined by experience, certifications, and language pairs.

SLUSA frequently hires interpreters in a variety of languages including ASL and foreign spoken languages as well as CART stenographers/reporters real-time captioners, and written document translators.
SLUSA has strict quality control in place to ensure we hire only individuals who are highly qualified with certifications, language proficiency scores, education, and training.
