REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN
DOE: $30.00 - $35.00
Summary
Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the operation, inspection and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration and freezer equipment.
Duties:
· Operate ammonia system with supervision on shift and report any unusual conditions promptly to supervisor
· Understands and follows safe work practices dealing with hazardous materials for ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems
· Safely operates equipment such as pumps, evaporators, condensers, cooling towers, valves, purgers, air compressors and other utility system components
· Assist operations in shut down and start-up, processing area temperature controls and being able to pump down and defrost systems
· Test and document chemical usage and evaporative condensers
· Control water treatment systems and their required chemicals, pump out, disassemble, repair, and reassemble many kinds of refrigeration equipment
· Monitor and record system information as necessary, report any abnormal conditions, and ensure proper communication across shifts
· Perform assigned preventative maintenance activities including lubrication, drain oil at collection points, add oil to systems, service and PM AC units
· Other duties include replacing defective valves and fan motors, controlling equipment set points to meet our facility needs, and removing ice buildup
· Assist with project and equipment installations and start-ups
· Perform proper Lockout/Tagout procedures when working on equipment
· Perform basic trouble shooting on electrical and mechanical systems such as general observations power switch on, chain or drive connected
· Keep engine rooms and work areas clean, neat, and orderly
· Must complete daily reports for your supervisor and collaborate with various contractors, electricians, and pipefitters
· Other tasks assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
· Must be willing to follow detailed instructions
· Must be willing to work overtime, weekends as necessary, and work Uncontrolled Standby every 3rd week
· Must be able to work at height and on rooftops
