Job Summary
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling routine mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and final assemblies of simple to moderate complexity. The role involves working from blueprints, written and verbal instructions, and established procedures while using hand tools and precision measuring equipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, quality, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and final assemblies using established procedures and documentation.
- Perform lock wire and safety wire installation, nameplate installation, and related assembly activities.
- Prepare materials by lapping surfaces using appropriate tooling techniques and compounds.
- Read and interpret blueprints, written instructions, and verbal instructions.
- Use hand tools and precision equipment, including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor presses, vises, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, and dial indicators.
- Perform visual inspections to identify defective materials or components and follow established procedures for handling nonconforming items.
- Verify tooling is properly calibrated before use.
- Collaborate with team members to complete assemblies and meet production requirements.
- Participate in cross-training and support other production areas as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all operational procedures, safety rules, and quality requirements.
- Perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work overtime as required to meet business needs.
Job Requirements
- Prior assembly experience preferred; aerospace assembly experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Education
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Work Experience
- Previous mechanical assembly experience preferred.
- Aerospace assembly experience preferred.
