Job Title: Cleaner / Janitor / Custodian – 2nd Shift Janitorial TechnicianJob Description

This 2nd Shift Janitorial Technician role focuses on keeping facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained during afternoon and evening hours (typically 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with some flexibility). You will perform daily cleaning, support office moves and cubicle setups, and handle light building maintenance to ensure the facility operates efficiently and remains in orderly condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning of the building, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in common areas, offices, and corridors.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including fixtures, mirrors, partitions, and floors, and ensure supplies such as soap, paper products, and other essentials are fully stocked.
  • Collect, remove, and dispose of garbage and recycling from designated areas, ensuring waste containers are clean and properly maintained.
  • Receive, unpack, and stock janitorial and facility supplies, maintaining organized storage areas and monitoring inventory levels.
  • Support internal office moves and relocations, including tearing down and building office cubicles and workstations as directed.
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks as needed, including building start-up procedures and shutdown routines for the shift.
  • Handle minor electrical tasks, such as checking and replacing basic components under guidance and within established safety procedures.
  • Perform minor plumbing tasks, such as addressing simple clogs or leaks and replacing basic fixtures when required.
  • Replace interior and exterior lights and bulbs to maintain proper illumination throughout the facility.
  • Conduct general building clean-up for both interior and exterior areas, including entrances, walkways, and common spaces.
  • Manage interior and exterior recycling processes, ensuring materials are properly sorted, stored, and prepared for pickup.
  • Respond to maintenance and cleaning requests in a timely manner to support efficient building operations.
  • Follow all safety, cleaning, and maintenance procedures to protect equipment, property, and occupants.
  • Maintain good attendance and a positive, cooperative attitude while working independently or as part of a team.
Essential Skills
  • General experience with industrial equipment and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Knowledge of basic manual work techniques and safe use of cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 to 100 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Reliability in attendance and the ability to maintain a consistently positive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning methods for floors, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work from checklists, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of related experience in janitorial, custodial, or building maintenance roles.
  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift hours (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with negotiable timing).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Janitorial or custodial experience in office or industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting office moves, including tear down and assembly of office cubicles or furniture.
  • Familiarity with minor electrical and plumbing tasks in a facility setting.
  • Comfort working with interior and exterior recycling programs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively during an evening shift.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe facility.

Work Environment

The work involves regular use of industrial cleaning equipment and tools, handling supplies, and performing light maintenance tasks throughout the building. You can expect a hands-on, active workday that requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and moving materials and furniture. Attire should be practical and suitable for physical work, with appropriate footwear and clothing that supports safe, comfortable performance of cleaning and maintenance duties.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blair, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
