General Production Worker
Job Description
Operate and monitor production processes including mixing, extrusion, polishing, and finishing. Responsibilities include measuring and loading ingredients (up to 50 lbs.), running equipment, transferring batches, and ensuring product quality meets specifications.
Responsibilities- Mixing: Read and follow manufacturing order instructions listing ingredients to gather, measure, weigh, and document. Load required ingredients (up to 50 lbs.) into a mixer, blend based on time specifications, and transfer mixed batches to the next process.
- Extrusion Process: Process mixing batches through extrusion equipment to produce the finished product. Use product controls to conduct sensory checks to ensure the product matches customer specifications.
- Polishing: Manage and transfer finished products from extrusion and drying processes. Apply finishing touches using the panning process, which includes loading products from drums, carts, or trays into polishing pans and adding liquid ingredients.
- Finishing: Oversee the transfer of finished products from extrusion processes using drums, carts, or trays to the next process.
- 1+ year of recent manufacturing experience in production.
- Experience with mixing, extrusion, batching, polishing, and finishing preferred (training provided if needed).
- Use of hand tools such as RF scanners, hand trucks, and sifting screeners.
- Ability to lift/move up to 56 lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Strong English and math skills; ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, manuals, and shipping documents.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.
- Reliable, flexible, and a team player.
- Experience with machine operation and general production work.

Work EnvironmentWork in a food production environment where GMP rules are crucial. Uniform, hair net, beard net, and safety shoes are required, with mandatory handwashing and sanitation of boots before entering each room. The facility includes 8 production rooms and 4 packaging lines.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
