Job Title: New Model Parts Quality Supplier Representative

Job Description

This role focuses on mass production parts quality analysis for new model components, with one position dedicated to weld suppliers and another dedicated to plastics suppliers. The representative leads detailed investigations into part quality issues, works closely with suppliers to drive corrective actions, and ensures that changes to supplier parts meet stringent technical and quality requirements before they enter production.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-depth analysis of quality problems for mass production parts, including detailed measurements and data review, to minimize impact on downstream manufacturing departments.
  • Prepare and submit clear, technically accurate documents to communicate quality problems to suppliers using the NARS Honda Trouble Report (HTR) system, and present findings to initiate effective countermeasures.
  • Set technical requirements for supplier part change points using the NA Change Point Control System (CPCS), and evaluate supplier quality documentation prior to approving changes.
  • Conduct complex problem-solving analyses and investigations to identify root causes of non-conforming conditions and recommend robust corrective actions.
  • Lead supplier Quality Assurance Visits (QAVs) to communicate quality concerns, verify implementation of countermeasures, and confirm that non-conforming conditions are eliminated.
  • Mentor new associates within the group on problem-solving methods, procedures, and the full scope of Parts Quality responsibilities.
  • Perform judgment, disposition, and handling functions for non-conforming part issues, including decisions on rework, use-as-is, or rejection.
  • Evaluate and judge the quality of parts received from suppliers to ensure they meet all specifications and standards.
  • Effectively solve quality problems using PDCA and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Approve supplier countermeasures and supplier change points before parts are released for production usage.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 2–4+ years of quality engineering experience, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with quality engineering practices, including root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA).
  • Strong experience in quality assurance within automotive manufacturing or similar high-volume production environments.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 quality management standards.
  • Experience with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Proficiency with quality tools such as Fishbone diagrams, 8D problem solving, 5 WHY analysis, and RCCA.
  • Ability to lead and document complex technical investigations and communicate findings clearly to suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of welding processes is highly beneficial for the weld supplier-focused role.
  • Understanding of plastic injection molding processes is highly beneficial for the plastics supplier-focused role.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving frameworks such as PDCA.
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced team members on quality tools and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for leading supplier visits and presenting technical information.

Work Environment

The position is based in an OEM automotive assembly plant focused on power sports products. The work environment involves close collaboration with manufacturing departments, suppliers, and quality teams in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting. The role offers long-term consulting opportunities with paid holidays, two weeks of paid time off, and paid overtime, along with excellent benefits upon conversion to full-time employment. Work is primarily performed on-site within the plant, where adherence to standard industrial safety practices and appropriate attire for a manufacturing environment is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Timmonsville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
