We are looking for a detail-oriented Editor to support the preparation of high-quality technical deliverables for an Engineering organization in San Diego, California. This Contract position focuses on refining complex reports, ensuring documents follow established formatting standards, and helping teams produce accurate, well-prepared final submissions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with lengthy technical materials, and confident using document production tools to maintain quality and consistency.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and refine technical reports so they align with internal standards and client-specific formatting expectations.
• Review document structure and presentation, making updates to items such as headers, footers, typography, spacing, tables, footnotes, and page numbering.
• Partner with engineers, project leads, and subject matter experts to assemble complete and publication-ready project documents.
• Use Adobe Acrobat to convert, revise, and manage document files as part of the final production process.
• Provide editing and formatting support during the closing phase of report development after technical content has been finalized.
• Conduct detailed quality checks to identify inconsistencies, layout issues, and presentation errors before delivery.
• Maintain organization across multiple documents and deadlines while ensuring final files meet submission requirements.• Demonstrated experience in copy editing, proofreading, or document production in a detail-focused setting.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for editing, formatting, and document management tasks.
• Hands-on experience with Adobe Acrobat for file conversion, markup, and final document preparation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review long, technical materials accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with technical contributors and project staff.
• Background supporting engineering, environmental, government, or other technical documentation is preferred.
