Traveling Security Technician II
Duration: 4-month contract-to-hire - reliable employees will be offered conversion at the end of the contract period
Location: Candidates must be open to travel-based work assignments within 75 miles of Salt Lake City, UT
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience installing and servicing CCTV systems, cameras, and video surveillance equipment
- Experience with access control systems (badge readers, door hardware, door controllers, mag locks, REX devices
- Low-Voltage Cabling experience (pulling, terminating, labeling, testing Cat5e/Cat6)
- Experience installing Physical Security Systems
- Ability to read and interpret security system layouts, prints, and schematics
- Experience working in commercial, secure, or mission-critical environments (data centers, hospitals, etc.)
- Strong understanding of industry safety standards and site protocols as well as comfortable working in active, controlled environments and following site procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or on a crew
- Clean driving record and able to pass required background check
- Commitment to travel across the U.S. for project-based assignments. (Projects can last up to minimum a year)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience working in hyperscale or enterprise data centers
- Familiarity with major security platforms (Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, etc.)
- Certifications in security systems or low-voltage work (BICSI, manufacturer certs, OSHA 10/30)
- Experience with camera programming, system commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Exposure to integrated systems (VMS, intrusion detection, alarms)
Job Description
We are seeking Security Technician II's to support installation and deployment projects within hyperscale data center environments, campuses, commercial, industrial, and mission critical facilities. This role focuses on the installation, configuration, and support of electronic security systems. This is a travel-based, contract to-hire opportunity for technicians with strong experience in access control, CCTV, low-voltage cabling, and physical security system installations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and enjoys working in a team-oriented construction environment.
These roles are open to candidates with varying levels of experience and may involve outside plant and inside plant cable pulling (OSP/ISP), structured/network cabling, or security and camera cabling, depending on project needs. Technicians will support installation efforts both outdoors and indoors, working hands-on with cabling systems and infrastructure equipment in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. If working within security, candidates will be working directly with CCTV cameras and door access panels as well. Technicians will ensure all systems are installed to meet strict security and compliance standards required in a high security facility.
Logistics
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 7-3:30pm
- Occasional overtime available, but not frequent
- Start dates depend on construction project timelines
- Per Diem: $50 per day
- Housing and per diem provided for individuals 20+ miles from assigned jobsite
- Employees offered a compensated trip home approximately every 6 weeks
- Employees may choose to pay for additional trips, but must return to the job site by Monday morning
- Transportation:
- Company vehicles may be provided depending on project needs
- Shared trucks/vans are commonly used for transportation to and from job sites
Onboarding & Requirements
- Clean driving record required and valid driver’s license
- Background check/Drug test required
- No certifications required to start
- Relevant certifications can be obtained after sufficient hours and upon direct hire
