Job Description
A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide dedicated support within a therapeutic day school setting for the 2026/2027 school year, including summer sessions in 2027. The role is based in a single building with small class sizes, supporting students ranging in age from PreK through 22 years old. Most of the student population is diagnosed with autism, with some learners presenting emotional and intellectual disabilities.
This is a full-time contract position, but part-time applicants are encouraged to apply. As the sole SLP in the building, you’ll play a key role in shaping comprehensive communication services for a diverse and inspiring group of students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Illinois SLP license and Professional Educator License (PEL)
- SLP-CCC credential required
- Experience or strong interest in working with students with autism, emotional, or intellectual disabilities
- Comfort working independently as the only SLP in the building
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services for students ages PreK-22 with varied communication needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
- Conduct assessments, progress monitoring, and ongoing documentation
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to ensure holistic support for each student
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and strategies for continued growth
