Job Description

The Laboratory Technologist manages manual sample processing within a high-volume general processing laboratory, ensuring accurate specimen tracking and timely completion of testing. This role stages and transfers samples between instruments and systems, supports workflow adjustments. The position is ideal for a recent Bachelor of Science graduate in a life science discipline who is ready to step into a fast-paced environment and begin hands-on training immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Scan incoming samples into the system and accurately track specimen movement throughout the testing process.
  • Manage manual sample processing to ensure that all specimens are correctly logged, routed, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Stage samples on instruments according to established laboratory protocols and workflow requirements.
  • Follow basic laboratory practices, including proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation to maintain data integrity.

Essential Skills

  • Recent Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry is required.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and convey information clearly.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory practices, including specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume testing environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Work Environment

The role is based in a Laboratory that supports high-throughput patient, donor, and biological testing in a sterile, clean, and safety-focused environment. The position is offered as a contract role, with the potential for extension or transition to a direct position depending on performance and business needs. The schedule runs Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., requiring comfort with evening and weekend work. The laboratory culture is rooted in medical and biology-based backgrounds, emphasizing precision, teamwork, and adherence to standardized procedures. Dress code consists of solid-colored scrubs and closed-toe shoes, reflecting the professional and safety requirements of the laboratory setting.

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
