The Lowboy Driver safely transports heavy construction equipment using a lowboy trailer throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. This role focuses on safe loading, securing, and unloading of equipment, strict adherence to DOT regulations, and accurate documentation of all trips. The driver supports construction operations by coordinating deliveries and pickups, performing inspections, and maintaining a professional presence on job sites and in the yard.

Responsibilities
  • Safely transport heavy construction equipment using a lowboy trailer throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs and all required transportation documentation.
  • Coordinate deliveries and pickups with project managers and field personnel to meet project schedules.
  • Ensure all equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, and other machinery, is properly secured for transport.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, equipment issues, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with routine equipment checks and yard operations as needed.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and communicate effectively when interacting with customers, subcontractors, and team members.
Essential Skills
  • Valid CDL Class A driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record with a strong focus on safe driving practices.
  • Experience operating and hauling heavy construction equipment.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, and unload excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, and other construction equipment on a lowboy trailer.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when project schedules require.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Experience securing heavy equipment on trailers.
  • CDL Class A driving experience, preferably with heavy equipment hauling.
  • Knowledge of civil construction operations and site development practices.
  • Experience working in a construction or site development environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience hauling heavy equipment on a lowboy trailer strongly preferred.
  • Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to support routine equipment checks and yard operations.
  • Professional demeanor when representing the company on job sites and with customers.

Work Environment

This role is based out of Concord, North Carolina, with regular travel throughout North Carolina and South Carolina to various job sites. The driver works in a civil construction environment that includes residential subdivisions, commercial developments, hotels, and multi-family projects. The position involves working around heavy equipment, active construction sites, and yard operations, with company-provided equipment and safety gear used daily. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
