Job Description

This full-time, onsite position serves third through fifth-grade learners, with a close-knit classroom size of just 10 students—ensuring the ability to focus on individualized support and growth.
The role runs from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm, providing structure and predictability both for educators and students. Working on a contract basis, you'll collaborate closely with dedicated staff and families to deliver meaningful educational experiences and help every child reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (State of Connecticut or eligibility for certification)
- Experience instructing elementary-aged students, preferably in grades 3–5
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to differentiate instruction and utilize evidence-based strategies
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Positive, compassionate approach and ability to build productive relationships with students and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to 3rd–5th grade students with diverse learning needs in a small classroom setting
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), assessing student progress and updating plans as needed
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student achievements and progress
- Create a supportive, inclusive classroom community that fosters academic and social-emotional growth
