Job Description
Lead high school students on their journey toward increased independence in a Life Skills program for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. This contract opportunity is tailored for an educator passionate about making a profound impact—specifically those with hands-on experience in a High School Life Skills classroom.
What We’re Seeking:
- Valid Special Education Teaching License in the state
- Demonstrated success running a High School Life Skills or self-contained classroom (resource room or general case management experience will not meet requirements)
- In-depth expertise in transition planning, adaptive skills instruction, and facilitating real-world learning
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively direct classroom paraprofessionals and liaise with families and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction in functional academics, daily living routines, personal independence, and real-world community skills
- Manage a specialized classroom and set the tone for a supportive, structured learning environment
- Oversee and support paraprofessional staff to optimize student progress
- Write and implement IEPs, functional goals, and tailored post-secondary transition plans
- Foster skill acquisition that fully prepares students for success beyond high school
