The Clinical Research Coordinator plays a central role in the successful execution of industry-sponsored clinical trials. In this position, you serve as the trusted point of contact for participants, the operational backbone of each study, and a key partner to investigators, sponsors, contract research organizations, and monitors. You coordinate participant visits and procedures, maintain meticulous regulatory and source documentation, and support cardiometabolic and other therapeutic area trials with a strong commitment to participant safety and data quality.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of the participant experience, including scheduling and managing study visits, assessments, and follow-up appointments with accuracy, care, and professionalism.
  • Drive day-to-day study operations across multiple active clinical trials simultaneously, ensuring that protocol requirements and timelines are consistently met.
  • Perform venipuncture and process laboratory specimens safely and accurately in accordance with study protocols and applicable guidelines.
  • Maintain complete and compliant source documentation and regulatory files, adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA, ICH, and sponsor requirements.
  • Lead participant recruitment and screening activities, ensuring appropriate eligibility assessment and timely enrollment into clinical trials.
  • Support participant retention by building rapport, providing clear education about study procedures, and coordinating ongoing study engagement.
  • Identify, document, and report adverse events and other safety information promptly, helping to safeguard participant well-being and overall study integrity.
  • Collaborate closely with investigators, sponsors, monitors, and other research staff to prepare for and support monitoring visits, audits, and other oversight activities.
  • Ensure regulatory documentation is accurate, up to date, and organized, including informed consent forms and other essential regulatory records.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of cardiometabolic, metabolic, endocrine, and internal medicine-related trials through effective coordination and communication.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator on industry-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Hands-on experience with clinical research operations, including patient screening, visit coordination, and trial logistics.
  • Proven experience preparing and maintaining regulatory documentation in accordance with FDA, ICH, and GCP standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial processes and requirements, including source documentation and regulatory file management.
  • Experience working on cardiometabolic, metabolic, endocrine, or internal medicine-related clinical trials.
  • Ability to identify, document, and report adverse events and other safety-related information accurately and promptly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent clinical trials and competing priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to serve as a reliable point of contact for participants and study stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality data collection and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical research team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy experience, including venipuncture and specimen processing, is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred; a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) credential is considered a plus.
  • High school diploma or associate degree may be considered with relevant clinical research experience.
  • Experience with patient recruitment strategies in clinical trials, particularly in areas such as diabetes and endocrinology.
  • Familiarity with clinical research in psychiatric, sleep, psychedelics, vaccine, and general medicine indications is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with regulatory frameworks and guidelines related to clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate participants about study procedures and expectations in a clear and supportive manner.
Work Environment

This role is based primarily at a dedicated clinical research site in the Portage Park area, serving the greater Chicagoland community. The facility has a long-standing history of conducting a high volume of clinical trials across diverse therapeutic areas, supported by board-certified physicians, licensed clinicians, psychometricians, and experienced research professionals. You work in a structured, well-managed environment focused on participant safety, data quality, and operational excellence. The setting includes typical clinical research equipment and spaces for participant visits, assessments, and specimen collection. You collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team and interact regularly with monitors and sponsors. The work involves on-site coordination of study visits and procedures during standard clinical research operating hours, with professional attire appropriate for a patient-facing, clinical setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
