Our client is looking for an accomplished finance leader to guide the fiscal strategy and daily financial operations for the organization in Berlin New Hampshire. This role serves as a senior member of the leadership team, combining executive-level planning with hands-on oversight of accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment, strong technical finance expertise, and the ability to advise stakeholders on financial priorities, risk management, and long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the full scope of finance operations, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger activity, cash positioning, and investment oversight.
• Produce timely monthly and year-end financial statements while ensuring records remain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
• Manage the annual audit process by organizing documentation, coordinating schedules, and serving as the primary liaison for external auditors.
• Establish, monitor, and improve internal control practices to protect public funds and support reliable financial reporting.
• Review tax-related reporting and reconcile revenues across funds to maintain accuracy and transparency in financial activity.
• Build cash flow projections, oversee treasury activities, and contribute to longer-term investment and funding strategies.
• Lead preparation of the annual operating budget and develop multi-year forecasts to support informed financial planning.
• Partner with department leaders to evaluate budget needs, provide financial analysis, and support capital and long-range planning initiatives.
• Advise executive leadership and governing stakeholders on fiscal policy, funding options, contract compliance, procurement matters, and the financial impact of organizational decisions.
• Supervise finance staff and oversee financial system administration, with occasional participation in evening meetings as needed.
• At least 5 years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in a senior-level accounting or public sector finance environment.
• Demonstrated success managing annual budgets, forecasting cycles, and organization-wide budget processes.
• Strong background in month-end close, financial statement preparation, and ongoing financial reporting.
• Experience developing cash flow forecasts and performing treasury or liquidity management activities.
• Ability to conduct ad hoc financial analysis and translate findings into practical recommendations for leadership.
