Job Description
Senior Property Accountant

Location: Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Schedule: Full-Time, Fully Onsite
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $75,000-$90,000 DOE

About the Opportunity

A growing property management organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join its accounting team. This is not a transactional accounting role focused solely on accounts payable, accounts receivable, or invoice processing. Instead, this position requires a true accounting professional who can take ownership of a portfolio of properties and manage the accounting cycle from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will function as a trusted accounting partner to property and regional management teams, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, identifying trends, resolving issues, and providing meaningful financial insight. This role is best suited for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the full accounting cycle for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger adjustments.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial statements and explain variances, trends, and unusual activity.
  • Review general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Property Managers and Regional Managers to review monthly financial results and address operational questions impacting financial performance.
  • Identify accounting issues, research solutions, and resolve concerns independently whenever possible.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasts, audits, and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure assigned properties are completed accurately and on schedule each month.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding financial performance, outstanding items, and accounting matters.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Approximately 5+ years of accounting experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Month-end close
    • Accrual accounting
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Journal entries
    • General ledger accounting
    • Debits and credits
    • Financial statement analysis
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting responsibilities from beginning to end rather than solely transactional AP or AR functions.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and potential issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through challenges independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Professional communication skills and experience working with operational leaders or business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Property accounting or property management industry experience.
  • Experience supporting multifamily, commercial, or real estate portfolios.
  • Yardi software experience.
  • Senior Accountant-level experience with ownership of month-end close and financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of property-level financial reporting, budgeting, and operational accounting concepts.
Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
