The Customer Service Representative assists customers in identifying and purchasing the parts they need, with a strong focus on fluid power and automation products. This role involves researching and recommending parts, preparing quotes, processing orders, and providing technical support to a diverse customer base, including original equipment manufacturers, industrial companies, and heavy equipment users. The position also emphasizes creating new and add-on sales, generating leads for outside sales, and delivering professional, customer-focused service.

Responsibilities
  • Process customer orders and quotes for a variety of products and value-added services through email and phone inquiries.
  • Answer delivery inquiries and follow up on purchasing and receiving activities, including checking stock availability, backorder status, vendor schedules, and shipping dates.
  • Work from worksheets, inventory lists, part number files, and related information to assist customers in selecting appropriate products.
  • Gather and communicate information related to costs, discounts, and stock availability to support accurate quotes and orders.
  • Expedite order inquiries by checking order status, following up on backorders and lost orders, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Investigate defects, damages, and incorrect shipments, coordinating follow-up actions and updating customers on the status of in-house repairs.
  • Assist walk-in customers by identifying product needs, providing technical support, and processing orders efficiently.
  • Monitor customer returns, investigate causes, recommend or approve reshipments or credits, and process the necessary documentation.
  • Seek and develop opportunities to increase business and expand the account base through qualifying and opening new business accounts.
  • Utilize sales techniques to add-on sell, up-sell, and drive additional revenue while maintaining professional customer service standards.
  • Efficiently and professionally service sales accounts, maintaining a detailed history of customer interactions within organizational systems.
  • Maintain and develop strong customer relationships, continuously working to build rapport and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Attend product training seminars to stay current on fluid power and automation products.
  • Uphold a high level of integrity, accept responsibility for actions, and respond positively to constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate proper listening skills and clear communication to ensure accurate understanding of customer needs and internal requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Proven customer service and customer support experience in a sales-oriented environment.
  • Experience in telesales, outside sales, or a combination of both.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information quickly, particularly related to technical products.
  • Clear, pleasant, and professional speaking voice suitable for phone-based sales and communication.
  • Product knowledge of fluid power products and related automation components such as actuators, air valves, and compressors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to establish rapport and build relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Effective negotiation and closing skills to drive sales and secure orders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional interpersonal relationships with customers and internal contacts.
  • Professional phone presence and ability to project a positive, service-oriented image.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Good problem-solving and reasoning skills to address customer issues and order-related challenges.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with the MS Office suite.
  • High level of integrity and accountability for personal actions.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism without becoming defensive and use feedback to improve performance.
  • Strong listening skills and command of the English language for clear, accurate communication.
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Mechanical background and familiarity with industrial and heavy equipment environments are highly recommended.
  • Experience working with fluid power and automation product portfolios.
  • Comfort working with inventory lists, part number files, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness to attend product training seminars to deepen technical knowledge.
  • Assertive team player with a positive attitude and high energy level.
  • Ability to build long-term customer relationships and maintain strong customer rapport.
  • Interest in pursuing fluid power certifications and structured technical training.
  • Motivation to develop within a clear career path that can lead to operations, management, or other roles.
Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in Norcross, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment is a structured, professional setting with significant exposure to a highly technical product portfolio in fluid power and automation. New hires participate in 12–18 months of hands-on, structured training and have access to fluid power certifications and clear career pathing opportunities. The team is established and long-tenured, offering support and guidance as you grow in the role. Work involves frequent phone and email communication with customers, use of standard office technology and MS Office software, and collaboration with internal departments such as purchasing, receiving, and repair services.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norcross, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.65/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
