Job Description
We are looking for a Maryland-licensed attorney to join a practice serving clients in Maryland. This position focuses on a blend of general civil litigation, family law, and personal injury matters, requiring someone who can move cases forward with confidence from initial evaluation through final resolution.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a varied docket of civil, family, and personal injury matters from opening through settlement, hearing, or trial
• Advocate for clients during court appearances, mediation sessions, depositions, arbitration proceedings, and trial-related matters
• Prepare persuasive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and settlement documentation
• Analyze legal issues, perform research, and shape case strategies based on facts, applicable law, and procedural requirements
• Guide clients on case status, legal options, potential exposure, and recommended next steps throughout representation
• Lead settlement discussions with opposing counsel, insurance representatives, and self-represented parties to pursue favorable outcomes
• Organize witnesses, documentary evidence, and case themes in preparation for contested hearings and trial proceedings
• Maintain accurate matter files, monitor critical deadlines, and complete timekeeping and documentation in line with firm expectations
• Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case progression across multiple practice areas
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school• Active license to practice law in Maryland
• At least 5 years of experience handling civil litigation, family law, and/or personal injury matters
• Working knowledge of Maryland court rules, filing procedures, and civil practice standards
• Demonstrated experience with hearings, depositions, motion practice, discovery management, and settlement negotiations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present legal arguments clearly
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple active matters independently
• Trial experience is preferred
