Fine Motor Skills Gross Motor Skills School Occupational Therapist | Bessemer, Alabama

Make an impact in the lives of young students by supporting their growth and development through Occupational Therapy services in a contract role. In this position, you will work with K-3rd grade learners, providing both direct and consultative OT interventions tailored to each student's unique needs, as outlined in their IEPs. You’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and a dedicated support team, all working together to help scholars achieve meaningful progress in their academic and personal goals.

Desired Qualities & Experience:

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with school-based experience preferred
• Proficient in delivering OT services to elementary-aged students, specifically addressing fine and gross motor skills
• Understanding of IEP processes and special education regulations
• Strong data collection, progress monitoring, and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary educational teams
• Experience interpreting and presenting OT-related data during IEP meetings
• Commitment to providing high-quality, individualized services

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and/or consultative OT services tailored to students’ IEP goals and individual needs
• Support students’ fine and gross motor skill development and monitor ongoing progress
• Collect and maintain detailed data on student achievements and services provided
• Prepare clear, thorough progress reports and documentation to track and communicate student growth
• Work closely with teachers and support staff, sharing classroom strategies and interventions
• Participate in IEP meetings, presenting OT data and recommendations to help guide student plans
• Ensure all services and documentation adhere to special education guidelines
