Assembly Operator IV – Trainer
Location: Arden, NC
Shift: 3:00pm–11:30pm, Monday–Friday
Pay Rate: $27–$30/hr (based on experience) + 10% 2nd shift differential
Type: Temp-to-Hire


Position Summary

The Assembly Operator IV – Trainer is a recognized subject matter expert (SME) responsible for delivering operator training, certification, and advanced skill development within the manufacturing environment. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring consistent manufacturing processes, upholding quality standards, and serving as a liaison between production, quality, and engineering teams.


Key Responsibilities

Training, Certification, & SME Leadership

  • Train, coach, and certify operators on manufacturing products, processes, equipment, and inspection requirements.
  • Deliver hands-on instruction to ensure consistent execution of standardized work instructions.
  • Mentor operators in advanced technical processes, troubleshooting, and quality requirements.
  • Assess operator skill development and validate readiness utilizing skills matrices and certification tools.

Training System Management

  • Support the creation, review, and improvement of training materials, standard operating procedures, and visual aids.
  • Accurately document training completion, competency observations, and qualification sign-offs in a timely manner.
  • Contribute input on skills matrices, certification requirements, and overall training process enhancement.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion adherence to standardized work to minimize process variation across shifts and teams.
  • Identify training gaps and partner with quality, engineering, and leadership teams to address root causes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production and quality-related issues as needed.

Leadership & Floor Support

  • Provide floor-level leadership and serve as a resource for team leads as required.
  • Drive team performance by offering coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Mentor other trainers and less experienced operators to foster a culture of continuous learning and skill advancement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in fiber optic assembly manufacturing or a related environment.
  • Proven experience in training, coaching, mentoring, and certifying operators.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain advanced technical processes and tailor training as needed.
  • Familiarity with skills matrices, certification processes, and training documentation systems.
  • Strong attention to accurate training and competency documentation.
  • Ability to deliver constructive feedback and support operator development in both routine and complex scenarios.
  • Capability to serve as a SME for processes, equipment, and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring other trainers or fulfilling a technical leadership role.
  • Experience contributing to the development or improvement of training materials, SOPs, or qualification standards.
  • Background in resolving advanced training gaps, readiness concerns, or recurring performance issues.
