Job Description
Make a difference in students’ lives as an Intervention Specialist working with a supportive team in the Cincinnati area! This is a contract opportunity, with immediate needs for two dedicated professionals: one covering a social communications classroom from now through late May, and another providing six weeks of coverage for a maternity leave starting in September. There is also a full-year opening at an elementary school to consider.
Enjoy a structured weekday schedule from 8am to 4pm, teaching a group of six students, all of whom have Autism (AU) eligibility. Most are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication and display varying behavioral needs. You’ll have the assistance of two experienced paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher / Intervention Specialist (appropriate for K-6 or equivalent)
- Prior experience working with children on the autism spectrum strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of best practices in special education and positive behavioral supports
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Comfort with non-verbal or limited-speech students
- Ability to adapt instruction to accommodate individual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Foster a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Implement behavior management strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to IEP meetings
