Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification in Rhode Island (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proven experience in elementary special education settings
  • Deep understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Proficient in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for advocating for students with exceptionalities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans (IEPs) for elementary students
  • Employ differentiated instruction tailored to varied abilities and learning styles
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Track and assess student progress, regularly updating documentation
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to help students achieve their academic goals
  • Participate in meetings, team planning, and professional development
