Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting young learners as a speech-language pathologist during the upcoming school year. This opportunity focuses on enhancing communication outcomes for elementary-aged students, beginning Monday, August 24, and concluding Friday, June 11. You’ll enjoy a flexible 24-hour workweek, typically spanning three full days (from 8:35 AM to 4:00 PM), so there’s plenty of room to balance your professional ambitions and personal life.
Working with a caseload of approximately 12 to 15 students, you’ll collaborate closely with general education teachers, leveraging both high-tech and low-tech solutions to meet each child’s unique needs. Candidates with proven experience supporting non-verbal students who use AAC devices will find this role especially fulfilling.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Eligibility for Wisconsin SLP licensure
- Previous work in pediatric and/or school settings
- Familiarity with a range of AAC devices and strategies for non-verbal students
- Strong collaboration skills, especially in working with general education teachers
- Ability to develop individualized interventions using diverse communication tools
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language intervention to students in an elementary school setting
- Assess, diagnose, and document communication challenges and progress
- Design and implement IEPs with an emphasis on functional communication outcomes
- Consult and collaborate with educators and families
- Integrate augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools into instruction as appropriate
