HR Generalist
Job Description
We are looking for an HR Generalist to support our nonprofit client based in Cicero, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can balance employee support, daily HR operations, and consistent administrative follow-through. The role will contribute to onboarding, benefits coordination, employee relations, and HR data management while helping maintain a responsive and organized HR function. This position is fully on site and could potentially go contract to hire!
Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day HR support by addressing employee questions, explaining policies, and helping resolve workplace concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
• Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including preparing documentation, guiding orientation steps, and ensuring required records are completed accurately.
• Administer core HR processes and maintain personnel documentation to support compliance, organization, and efficient workflow across the department.
• Assist with benefits-related activities by supporting enrollments, answering employee questions, and helping manage updates connected to coverage and eligibility.
• Maintain and update employee information within the HRIS to promote data accuracy, proper recordkeeping, and reliable reporting.
• Partner with managers and internal teams to support employee relations matters and encourage consistent application of company practices.
• Prepare HR forms, letters, and other administrative materials while tracking deadlines and following through on routine personnel actions.
• Contribute to process improvements and support HR-related operational changes when needed as part of ongoing departmental priorities.
• Experience working within the nonprofit sector.
• Practical knowledge of employee relations, HR administration, onboarding, and benefits support.
• Hands-on experience using HRIS platforms to enter, update, and review employee information.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with employees, managers, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy, follow-up, and dependable execution of HR processes.
