Crew Chief
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crew Chief to join our office located in the NYC/Long Island area. This role requires a professional with over 5 years of experience in surveying, specifically on commercial projects in NYC. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in leading and supervising survey crews while utilizing advanced surveying equipment.
Responsibilities- Supervise and lead survey crews, managing field operations and performing all phases of land surveying such as construction stakeouts, topographical surveys, boundary analysis, and as-built surveys.
- Utilize advanced survey equipment including Trimble, robotic total stations, GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to gather accurate field data.
- Conduct detailed field calculations, complete sketches, and ensure data is downloaded and processed with accuracy.
- Safely handle all surveying equipment and vehicles, ensuring that setups adhere to safety protocols and equipment is properly maintained.
- Supervise and mentor instrument operators and other field crew members, ensuring productivity and adherence to project timelines.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in surveying, specifically on commercial projects.
- Proficiency with surveying software, particularly Trimble.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- OSHA 40 and SST certifications.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in survey techniques, GPS, Civil 3D, and ALTA surveys.
- High School Diploma with strong math and computer skills.
- Desire to expand skillsets and adapt to new technologies.
- Proficiency in field coding for field to finish auto linework.
- Ability to complete additional certifications, such as OSHA (10, 30, 40), Hazwoper, TWIC, etc.
The position requires physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and the ability to stand or walk for 8+ hours a day. Extensive bending, kneeling, standing, climbing, hiking, digging, and shoveling are required. The Crew Chief will work in the field with the survey crew, often on busy streets or construction sites, with exposure to weather conditions and vehicular traffic. The role may involve experiencing loud noise and mental stress due to time deadlines and demands from various sources. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
