Job Description

This contract-to-hire opportunity allows you to make a meaningful difference as the primary special education teacher of record for both elementary and high school students in adaptive (functional skills) classrooms.
In this unique setting, you’ll collaborate closely with an experienced unlicensed teacher, who has been a dedicated presence in these classrooms for over a year. Your expertise will ensure compliance and deliver high-quality specialized instruction, empowering each student to reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Exceptional Children: Adapted Curriculum (K-12) certification preferred; other EC certifications will be considered
- Proven experience providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities, ideally across multiple grade levels
- Strong understanding of adaptive curriculum and functional skills instruction
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse caseload and collaborate with support staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as teacher of record for a caseload of 15 students (6 elementary, 9 high school), splitting your week between both age groups (32-36 hours)
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive curriculum strategies
- Work hand-in-hand with the classroom facilitator to maintain compliance standards and positive student outcomes
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress
- Cultivate a welcoming, supportive atmosphere in both elementary and high school adaptive settings, located on the same campus
