Special Education Teacher in Bessemer, AL

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Special Education Teacher supporting a specialized group of students in a virtual education setting. This unique position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small caseload—approximately seven students—out of the district office, backed by the guidance of a Special Education Director. Key Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Demonstrated experience in virtual school environments or similar educational settings
• Proven ability to provide individualized instruction and support to students with a variety of needs
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to maintaining accurate records and following established IEP procedures
• Flexibility and comfort working both independently and as part of a supportive onsite team

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver personalized instruction and support for students with special needs in a virtual learning format
• Collaborate regularly with the Special Education Director and multidisciplinary team
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Maintain close communication with families and staff regarding student progress
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning atmosphere
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training as needed
• Work from the district office during scheduled hours (10 to 20 hours per week)
