Job Description
This role provides high-quality cleaning and environmental services within a hospital setting to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You contribute directly to health and safety by maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms, offices, common areas, and specialized spaces, while following established procedures and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Clean offices, patient and resident rooms, dorms, classrooms, schools, common areas, lavatories, halls, food service areas, and other assigned spaces that require attention.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Perform hard-surface floor care, including scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing, as well as carpet spotting and extraction using mechanical equipment when required.
- Participate in the maintenance of wood floors, such as those in gymnasiums or dance studios, including cleaning, screening, stripping, sanding, and refinishing.
- Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings according to established standards.
- Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company standards.
- Empty trash and garbage containers and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Maintain adequate supplies and materials to support daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Change sheets and replenish linens as needed in designated areas.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and make minor repairs when required.
- Drive a golf cart or other vehicles, if needed, to move supplies or access different areas of the facility.
- Move furniture and set up tables and chairs for events, meetings, or room reconfigurations.
- Notify the supervisor promptly about any maintenance needs, repairs, or additions observed during work.
- Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures at all times.
- Report all accidents and injuries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training sessions, and hazard assessments.
- Apply all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work and tasks.
Essential Skills
- Experience in cleaning, janitorial, or custodial work in environments such as hospitals, hospitality settings, or similar facilities.
- Ability to perform sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, vacuuming, and general floor care tasks.
- Capability to use mechanical cleaning equipment for hard-surface floor care and carpet cleaning.
- Understanding of safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals in line with manufacturer instructions and company standards.
- Ability to follow safety and risk management policies and procedures, including OSHA and local safety requirements.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move furniture and equipment as required for cleaning and setup tasks.
- Reliability in reporting accidents, injuries, and maintenance issues promptly and accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in roles such as waitress, server, bartender, home health aide, janitor, or custodian, demonstrating strong customer service and attention to cleanliness.
- Comfort working in a hospital environment with a focus on patient and visitor satisfaction.
- Willingness to drive a golf cart or other vehicles when needed to support operations.
- Ability to perform minor equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
- Experience participating in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.

Work Environment
This position is based in a hospital setting with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and patient comfort. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift openings and schedule includes rotating weekends and holidays. Team members wear black pants (no denim, sweatpants, yoga pants, or spandex), black slip-resistant shoes, and black socks; a uniform shirt is provided.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.19 - $18.19/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
