Professionally, this assignment will allow you to grow by working with a diverse population of students, ranging in age from PreK to 22 years old, and presenting with a variety of diagnoses, primarily autism, as well as emotional and intellectual disabilities. As the sole SLP in the building, you’ll have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, shape your caseload, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in an intimate, single-building environment with small class sizes. This broadened experience will add significant depth to your resume and give you new strategies and insights to apply throughout your career.

Qualifications:

  • SLP-CCC required
  • Illinois SLP license and PEL (Professional Educator License) required
  • Previous experience with school-aged or transition-aged students preferred
  • Experience or comfort working with students with autism, emotional, or intellectual disabilities is a plus
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver speech and language therapy to students ages PreK–22
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans
  • Partner with teachers and other staff to support student success
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
  • Be an active member of the educational team in a therapeutic school environment
