Physical Therapist - School Setting in Clinton Township, MI
Job Description
Make a significant impact in the lives of students by supporting their physical growth and independence in a center-based program for individuals with moderate to severe disabilities. An experienced, dedicated Physical Therapist is needed to deliver critical services from August 2026 through June 2027. This contract role is full time, offering 35 hours per week for the full academic year, working with learners from kindergarten through age 26.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Active, valid Michigan Physical Therapy license (please provide license verification with application)
- Proven school-based physical therapy experience
- Comprehensive understanding of adapting interventions for moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with faculty, support staff, and families
- Comfortable working independently in an onsite setting
- Commitment to the duration of the contract with consistent attendance
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver physical therapy sessions individually and in groups based on students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess students’ physical development and design targeted interventions
- Collaborate regularly with instructional teams and related disciplines to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records and document therapy outcomes
- Educate staff and caregivers on strategies to facilitate students’ functional mobility and independence in and out of the classroom
- Participate in IEP meetings as a subject matter expert and advocate for student needs
