Job Description

The Aseptic Technician plays a key role in supporting sterilization operations within ISO 6 and ISO 7 cleanroom environments. This position focuses on washing glassware and medical components, performing aseptic cleaning and sterilization tasks, maintaining aseptic samples, and monitoring process systems and equipment to ensure proper operation. The role requires adherence to GMP and SOP guidelines, accurate documentation, and active participation in safety and quality practices on a consistent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Wash glassware and medical components using designated equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work in ISO 6 and ISO 7 cleanroom environments while wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform aseptic cleaning and sterilization activities to support pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech operations.
  • Maintain aseptic samples and ensure they are handled and stored according to GMP and SOP requirements.
  • Monitor process systems and equipment to verify proper operation and promptly report any deviations.
  • Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and assist the maintenance team as needed.
  • Participate in safety committees and strictly adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including batch records, reviews, and other GMP-related forms.
  • Clean, sanitize, and disinfect workstations before and after use to maintain a sterile and orderly environment.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and maintain high accuracy in all work performed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support ongoing operations and projects.
  • Adapt to different processes and workflows depending on the project requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of industry experience in aseptic processing, sterile processing, pharmaceutical, or related GMP environments is ideal.
  • Hands-on experience working in cleanroom or laboratory environments with aseptic techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP principles and the ability to follow SOPs consistently.
  • Experience with aseptic cleaning, sterilization, and aseptic technique in operational settings.
  • Ability to handle, review, and maintain batch records in alignment with good documentation practices.
  • Basic computer skills to work within internal databases and electronic documentation systems.
  • Proven punctuality, flexibility, and strong work ethic in a production or laboratory environment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and gown for extended periods while maintaining compliance with cleanroom protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in pharmaceutical, compound pharmacy, medical device, biotech, or related GMP industry.
  • Experience in cleanroom operations and sterile processing environments.
  • Familiarity with operation of sterilization equipment and process systems.
  • Commitment to long-term growth and development within the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both technical tasks and documentation.
  • Comfort working with a home-grown internal database and learning new systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with safety committees and cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

  • This role is based in ISO level 6 and 7 cleanroom environments focused on steam and dry heat sterilization for pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech applications.
  • The position requires gowning and wearing full PPE for 6–10 hours at a time, with scheduled breaks provided during the shift.
  • The standard schedule is 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • The facility emphasizes strict GMP compliance, SOP adherence, and robust safety practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
