Job Description
Make a meaningful impact by providing adaptive, individualized education to students with diverse learning needs. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a unique chance to serve as the teacher of record for both elementary and high school adaptive (functional skills) classrooms, all conveniently located on the same campus near Asheboro, NC. You’ll work with a manageable caseload of 15 students—6 at the elementary school level and 9 at the high school level—delivering specialized instruction and collaborating closely with a dedicated, experienced unlicensed teacher who will help support daily operations and instructional facilitation.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Licensure in Exceptional Children: Adapted Curriculum (K-12) preferred, but consideration will be given to those with other Exceptional Children (EC) certifications.
- Previous experience in a special education or adaptive/functional skills setting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing a split schedule across multiple grade levels.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure compliance and foster student growth.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach to partnering with unlicensed support staff and other educational professionals.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the official teacher of record for adaptive curriculum classrooms at both the elementary and high school level.
- Provide direct, individualized instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals.
- Collaborate daily with an experienced, supportive unlicensed instructional team member.
- Monitor student progress, update documentation, and maintain compliance with state and federal requirements.
