Job Description
The Preventative Maintenance Technician supports reliable production of food-grade containers by performing routine and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on cleaning and servicing machines, troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues, and maintaining accurate maintenance records to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery, including cleaning, greasing, and adding oil to equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
- Inspect and change filters on machines to maintain optimal performance and prevent unplanned downtime.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and repair leaks in hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Replace worn or damaged mechanical parts as needed to keep equipment in proper working condition.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replacements.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production personnel to identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Utilize mechanical aptitude and experience to diagnose root causes of equipment problems and implement effective solutions.
- Adhere to facility rules regarding personal protective equipment and attire while working on the production floor.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with complex machinery.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial or manufacturing equipment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical repair and servicing of production machinery.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including the ability to identify and repair leaks and replace components.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting leaks and maintaining system integrity.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning, greasing, oiling, and filter changes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with blow molds in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during a fixed day shift schedule.
- Strong attention to detail in both mechanical work and record keeping.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that produces food-grade containers. The work is performed on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment requires strict adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, including wearing steel-toe footwear, eye protection, and hair nets or beard nets on the production floor.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Portland, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
