Job Title: Superintendent – Secure Interior Construction and SCIF Fit-Out

Job Description

This role oversees secure interior construction and tenant fit-out projects, with a strong focus on SCIF and other secure environments. You will actively lead all field activities, manage site operations, and ensure strict adherence to security, safety, and quality standards. This position suits an experienced Superintendent who enjoys hands-on leadership, complex secure projects, and extensive travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all SCIF and interior construction work, including secure tenant fit-out projects, from mobilization through closeout.
  • Direct and oversee field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and security requirements.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and assist with the execution of daily field activities, stepping in hands-on as needed to maintain productivity and resolve issues.
  • Develop, manage, and update project schedules, sequencing, and daily work plans while consistently meeting safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Maintain a strong and visible jobsite presence, providing active field leadership and setting the standard for performance and conduct.
  • Interface directly with clients, property managers, architects, engineers, local officials, and security representatives to support project communication and coordination.
  • Monitor and control jobsite conditions to ensure strict compliance with safety standards and secure site protocols, including ICD 705, NISPOM, and other applicable requirements.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily documentation such as logs, reports, inspections, and other required records.
  • Assist with procurement and material coordination, including material handling and logistics to support continuous workflow.
  • Support self-perform trades when applicable by providing direction and hands-on assistance to keep work on schedule.
  • Uphold high workmanship standards and consistently represent company values through professional, proactive, and safety-focused field leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in interior commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated experience leading interior construction and fit-out projects, including tenant improvements.
  • SCIF and secure construction project experience, with strong understanding of secure facility requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage field crews, subcontractors, and vendors on active construction sites.
  • Experience developing and managing project schedules, sequencing, and daily work plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety standards and secure site protocols, including ICD 705 and NISPOM.
  • Ability to maintain detailed daily documentation, including logs, reports, and inspection records.
  • Experience interfacing with clients, property managers, architects, engineers, local officials, and security representatives.
  • Local experience working on SCIF projects in the DMV region.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time for project assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Secure construction project experience beyond SCIFs is highly preferred.
  • Background in interior fit-out construction, including complex build-outs and renovations.
  • Strong hands-on leadership style, with the ability to step into field tasks when needed.
  • Proven track record of maintaining high workmanship standards and delivering quality results.

Work Environment

This role is highly travel-intensive, with projects requiring 100% travel and no guarantee of being home on weekends. Candidates may reside anywhere, as you will travel to project locations as needed. You will work primarily on secure interior construction and SCIF fit-out sites, often within occupied or sensitive facilities, requiring strict adherence to security protocols and access procedures. The environment is field-based and hands-on, with daily interaction among field crews, subcontractors, clients, design professionals, local officials, and security personnel. You will operate in active construction settings that demand consistent attention to safety, secure site protocols, and quality workmanship.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of WARRENTON, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
