This hands-on Field Service Technician role combines technical problem-solving with direct customer support across multiple facility locations. You will travel within designated metro areas to install and service equipment, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and cellular/Bluetooth systems, and ensure accurate documentation of all work performed. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality service.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer facilities across designated metro areas to perform installation, maintenance, and repair services.
  • Independently execute lock installation projects from planning through completion, ensuring proper functionality and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and cellular/Bluetooth systems.
  • Diagnose and address customer concerns, providing clear explanations and effective solutions.
  • Respond to emergency service calls as directed, including occasional nights, weekends, or holidays when needed.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all service visits, including technical issues encountered, parts used, and work completed.
  • Prepare and submit timely documentation such as monthly expense reports, daily service call reports, weekly tracking, and route completion reports.
  • Prioritize workload in collaboration with leadership to maintain an efficient and cost-effective preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Provide on-site customer training on products and equipment as needed, ensuring users understand proper operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customer personnel, consistently representing the company in a courteous and reliable manner.
  • Assist with service needs at other locations when required based on business demands, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
  • Use organizational and time management skills to plan routes, manage appointments, and complete assignments within required timelines.
Essential Skills
  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical field service, maintenance, or related hands-on role.
  • Strong technical aptitude with plumbing systems, including basic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electrical systems maintenance and repair, including diagnosing common electrical issues.
  • Mechanical systems knowledge, including the ability to inspect, adjust, and repair mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in lock installation and related preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ability to configure, support, and troubleshoot cellular and Bluetooth devices used in field applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage routes, documentation, and service priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record to travel safely between customer locations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in or around industrial plants, utilities, or similar facility environments.
  • Comfort with traveling regularly between multiple sites within a metro area.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities, including occasional emergency service calls.
  • Capability to provide customer training on equipment and systems in a clear, patient, and professional manner.
  • Attention to detail in documentation, including expense reporting, service call notes, and maintenance records.
  • Strong sense of accountability and results-driven mindset, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly and on time.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based, with regular travel between multiple industrial and generating station facilities within designated metro areas, including locations such as plants and power-generating stations. You will work on-site in operational facility environments that may involve exposure to machinery, utilities infrastructure, and varying indoor and outdoor conditions. The position requires safe driving between sites and adherence to facility safety protocols and procedures. Standard work hours apply, with the flexibility to respond to occasional emergency service calls during nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. You will use tools and equipment related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, lock installation, and cellular/Bluetooth device configuration, along with a computer or mobile device for documentation and communication. Appropriate work attire consistent with industrial and field service environments, including any required safety gear or personal protective equipment, is expected.

This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
