Location: Mid-Cities area of DFW
Schedule: Primarily on-site with one remote day per week available after training

Position Overview:

A growing, project-based organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations. This position will own the full month-end close process, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with established policies and internal controls.

The Accounting Manager will work closely with operational and financial leadership to ensure project activity, billing, costs, and financial reporting are accurate, timely, and audit-ready.

Required Experience:
  • Percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Work-in-progress reporting and analysis
  • Full month-end close ownership
  • QuickBooks Online
  • Project-based, construction, or job-cost accounting
Preferred Experience:
  • NetSuite
  • Multi-entity accounting
  • Accounting system implementations or migrations
Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Close:
  • Manage and execute the complete monthly close process
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, estimates, and adjustments
  • Reconcile balance-sheet accounts, including cash, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, retainage, and accrued liabilities
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for leadership review
  • Research account variances and resolve questions promptly
  • Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable:
  • Oversee AP processing, invoice coding, approvals, payments, and period-end cutoff
  • Ensure vendor payments are processed accurately and on time
  • Oversee customer billing, collection tracking, and AR aging
  • Maintain accurate tracking of retainage and outstanding invoices
  • Partner with operations to resolve billing and collection issues
  • Ensure transactions are recorded within the appropriate project and accounting period
Project Accounting and Billing:
  • Maintain accurate project setup and accounting records
  • Track project billings, costs, work in progress, and overall project status
  • Prepare and support percentage-of-completion accounting calculations
  • Ensure consistency among project data, billing, job costs, and financial reporting
  • Identify project-level variances, data gaps, and accounting concerns
  • Collaborate with operations to obtain accurate project forecasts and completion estimates
Payroll Accounting:
  • Oversee payroll accounting, accruals, and related reconciliations
  • Ensure payroll entries align with established accounting and reporting standards
  • Maintain accurate records for benefits, payroll taxes, and payroll-related liabilities
  • Support compliance with timekeeping, employee classification, and documentation requirements
Audit and Internal Controls:
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready accounting documentation
  • Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents for audit requests
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and established accounting procedures
  • Address documentation issues and control gaps promptly
  • Support financial audits and other accounting reviews
Systems and Process Improvement:
  • Perform accounting functions primarily within QuickBooks Online and Excel
  • Follow established close procedures, templates, and checklists
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting
  • Assist with standardizing accounting procedures
  • Support future accounting system implementations or upgrades
Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or experienced Senior Accountant
  • Demonstrated ownership of the full month-end close process
  • Hands-on percentage-of-completion accounting and WIP reporting experience required
  • Construction, project-based services, or job-cost accounting experience required
  • Experience with AP, AR, payroll accounting, balance-sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with evolving processes and imperfect data
  • NetSuite experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus but not required

  • Financial results are reliable and require minimal rework
  • Accounting processes become increasingly consistent, controlled, and scalable

Pay Details: $58.00 to $63.00 per hour
