Job Description

This role performs a variety of general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment, including inspecting parts with a digital gage, loading and unloading parts in the washer area, working at the deburr table, and packing finished parts. You rotate through multiple jobs on the production floor and receive training for each area before being assigned. The position requires consistent, repetitive work while following posted instructions, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform typical machine operations and produce parts according to posted instructions and production requirements.
  • Inspect 5 lb parts coming out of the machines using precision measuring tools and a digital gage to verify quality standards.
  • Work in the washer area to load and unload parts safely and efficiently.
  • Operate at the deburr table to remove burrs and prepare parts for further processing or shipment.
  • Load, unload, and pack parts as needed to support production and shipping activities.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions promptly to the appropriate department supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and keep equipment in proper condition while following all safety regulations.
  • Complete any required logs and documentation accurately for the assigned area.
  • Develop familiarity with basic machine functions to support efficient and safe operation.
  • Follow established shift schedules, including start times, breaks, lunches, and cleanup periods, as directed by production bells or posted instructions.
  • Adhere to all overtime authorization procedures, obtaining approval from supervision or upper management before working additional hours.
  • Participate in orientation at the designated shift time and follow all facility rules, including restrictions on cell phone use on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort with repetitive work and ability to maintain focus and accuracy over the course of a shift.
  • Ability to use a digital gage and other precision measuring tools to inspect parts.
  • Capability to lift up to 30 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.
  • General mechanical aptitude suitable for operating basic machine functions in a production setting.
  • Experience performing general labor tasks in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify defective materials or questionable conditions.
  • Reliability and consistent work history suitable for a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality or quality inspection is a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturing inspection processes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with general labor duties such as loading, unloading, and packing parts.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and production schedules.
  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple areas of the production floor.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility that is clean, well-maintained, and organized. The production floor is loud, and ear plugs are provided where needed to protect hearing. The facility uses fans during the summer months to help manage heat and improve comfort. Work is performed on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.), with clearly defined start times, breaks, lunches, and cleanup periods. Employees must follow the posted schedule and production bell signals where applicable. Steel toe boots are required as part of the dress code, and cell phones are not allowed on the production floor to ensure safety and focus. Overtime may be required at times and must be authorized and approved by supervision or upper management.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Clemens, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
