Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling mechanical equipment in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You apply your mechanical assembly experience to build mail automation equipment using hand and power tools, working from clear assembly drawings. The position is a 6‑month contract-to-hire opportunity on a full-time first shift schedule, ideal for dependable, organized individuals who enjoy hands-on work and collaborating with a team.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret assembly drawings to accurately build mechanical equipment.
- Assemble and build mail automation equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
- Use a variety of hand tools and power tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
- Recognize and correctly use mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears during assembly.
- Identify and select appropriate hardware including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings for each assembly step.
- Work independently on assigned tasks, managing time and priorities to meet production goals.
- Collaborate within a team environment to complete larger assembly projects and support coworkers as needed.
- Maintain an organized, clean work area and follow established manufacturing and safety procedures.
- Adapt to changing production needs, including overtime and occasional weekend work when required.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about progress, issues, and improvement ideas.
- At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in an electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and diagrams.
- Ability to recognize mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears.
- Ability to identify and work with hardware including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings.
- Previous experience using both hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Dependable, punctual work habits and ability to commit to a full-time first shift schedule.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Organized approach to work with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Willingness to submit to a drug test as part of the hiring process.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with production deadlines.
- Comfort working from simple, easy-to-read assembly drawings similar to consumer furniture blueprints.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic in previous roles.
- Interest in long-term career growth within a technical or field service environment.
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends when required by production demands.

Work EnvironmentYou work in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with an air-conditioned production area. The role is full-time on the first shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and occasional weekend work possible based on production demands. The environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on positive attitude, personality, and a desire to grow. You regularly use hand tools and power tools at your workstation and follow established manufacturing and safety procedures in a structured production setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
