Position Overview
Position: Special Education Teacher
Location: Mesquite, TX 75149
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Schedule: 37.5 Hours Per Week
School Year: August 11, 2026 - May 28, 2027
School Assignment: One Elementary School Campus

• Special Education Teacher Responsibilities
• Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
• Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Monitor student progress and maintain compliance documentation.
• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
• Caseload Information

Qualified candidates may be assigned to one of the following classroom settings:

• Life Skills Classroom
• Autism Classroom
• Behavioral Support Classroom

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Active Texas Special Education (EC-12) Teaching Certification
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Experience working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and families
• Credentialing Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to work within Texas public schools. Fingerprinting through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) may be required for candidates who have not recently completed fingerprinting for another Texas public school district. Employment is contingent upon district clearance and successful completion of all onboarding requirements.
