Shipping Associate
Job Description
The Shipping Associate plays a key role in the warehouse operations by accurately receiving incoming materials from vendors and customers, verifying shipments against documentation, and entering data into the inventory system. This position works on a Receiving shift from 5:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to identify and report discrepancies, and comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities- Receive incoming materials from vendors and customers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Verify the quantity and description of materials received by comparing merchandise against packing lists and related documentation.
- Examine incoming shipments for damage, reject damaged items as needed, and properly report and record any discrepancies.
- Enter quantities received against purchase orders and production orders in the computer system to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Handle, move, and store materials safely using a stand-up forklift and other warehouse equipment as required.
- Maintain organized and clean receiving and warehouse areas to support efficient operations.
- Follow established processes and procedures while quickly learning new workflows and adapting to process changes.
- Work efficiently and independently to complete daily receiving and shipping tasks.
- Collaborate with warehouse and production team members to ensure smooth material flow throughout the facility.
- Stand-up forklift certification and demonstrated ability to operate a forklift safely in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift, pull, and push up to 60 lbs.
- Experience in inventory, shipping and receiving, picking, and general warehouse operations.
- Ability to accurately verify quantities and descriptions of materials against packing lists and purchase/production orders.
- Basic computer skills to enter and update data in inventory or warehouse management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when examining shipments and recording information.
- Ability to identify damaged items and discrepancies and follow proper reporting procedures.
- No degree required.
- Previous shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or production environment.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to address issues and find practical solutions.
- Go-getter attitude with a willingness to take initiative and learn new processes quickly.
- Ability to pick up on processes and procedures relatively quickly and adapt to changing operational needs.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a warehouse and production environment within a global manufacturing operation that produces industrial hand-held markers, plumbing chemicals, and livestock identification products. The Shipping Associate works a Receiving shift from 5:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and spends most of the day on their feet, operating a stand-up forklift, handling materials, and moving inventory. The work involves lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 60 lbs, working around industrial equipment, and following safety procedures typical of a manufacturing and warehouse facility. The environment is fast-paced, process-driven, and focused on accuracy, safety, and efficient material flow.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
