Special Education Teacher - Mason, OH

Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students in a specialized social communications classroom. Make a difference as an Intervention Specialist, working collaboratively with dedicated paraprofessionals to impact the lives of learners with Autism eligibility—most of whom are non-verbal or have limited speech. This contract opportunity offers a stable weekly schedule and the chance to develop strong connections in a supportive school environment.

Two roles are available:

• Immediate opening through May 28th
• Full-year position beginning this fall
• 8:00am – 4:00pm schedule
• One classroom features 6 students, all with social communication needs, and 2 paraprofessionals assisting
• A separate 6-week maternity leave coverage in September is also available

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Prior experience with students on the autism spectrum preferred
• Familiarity implementing behavior intervention strategies
• Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication skills, especially working with non-verbal and minimally verbal students
• Commitment to structured routines and positive behavioral support

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Teach social, communication, and life skills in a nurturing, structured setting
• Collect and monitor data to support student growth
• Collaborate with families, therapists, and school staff to create holistic support plans
• Address behavioral challenges proactively and compassionately
• Foster a welcoming classroom community where every student can thrive
