Job Description
The Payroll/Benefits Specialist plays a key role in administering employee benefits and supporting payroll processes for a high-volume employee population. This position focuses on benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee benefits support, while ensuring accurate and timely payroll coordination. The role requires someone who can quickly learn new systems, work independently with minimal supervision, and deliver clear, customer-focused guidance on complex benefits and medical plan options in a remote environment.
Responsibilities- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and ongoing maintenance.
- Lead and support open enrollment activities, ensuring employees receive accurate information and timely assistance.
- Provide employee benefits support by responding to inquiries and resolving issues through HRIS and ticketing systems.
- Explain medical plan options and complex benefits information clearly to diverse employee populations.
- Coordinate with vendors and manage vendor relationships related to benefits administration.
- Utilize HRIS systems, such as UKG Pro and PlanSource, to maintain accurate benefits and payroll records.
- Use ticketing systems, such as Zendesk, to track, manage, and resolve employee benefits and payroll requests.
- Support payroll processes by ensuring benefits-related data is accurate and properly reflected in payroll.
- Process and manage qualifying life events (QLE) in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Work independently in a remote environment, managing tasks with minimal training and supervision.
- Maintain a high level of customer service by educating employees on benefits and addressing their questions professionally.
- Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and organization.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders as needed and occasionally attend onsite meetings.
- At least 5 years of experience in benefits administration, enrollment, and payroll.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and effectively use UKG Pro and other HRIS systems.
- Hands-on experience with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee benefits support.
- Experience working with HRIS systems, including UKG Pro and PlanSource.
- Experience using ticketing systems such as Zendesk to manage employee requests.
- Knowledge and experience handling qualifying life events (QLE) within benefits programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex benefits information and medical plan options clearly to diverse employee populations.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting high-volume employee populations.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal training and supervision.
- Professional, customer-focused demeanor when interacting with employees.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
- Experience with vendor management related to benefits programs.
- Strong employee education skills, with the ability to guide and coach employees on benefits choices.
- Customer service experience in an HR, benefits, or payroll-related role.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and responsiveness.
This role is primarily remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to support a meaningful organization from a home office setting. The position may require occasional onsite meetings. You will work in a fast-paced environment supporting a high-volume employee population, using technologies such as UKG Pro, PlanSource, Zendesk, and other HRIS and ticketing systems. The work emphasizes independent task management, clear communication, and strong customer service in a professional, collaborative culture.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Media, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
