Job Description
The Mechanic repairs, refurbishes, and maintains fusion equipment and related machinery in a distribution plant and field environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, ensuring all rental fusion equipment remains in safe, reliable working condition, and supporting shipping and receiving operations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair small diesel and gas engines, centrifugal pumps, generators, electrical circuits, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair all rental fusion equipment to keep it in proper working order.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on fusion equipment and related machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Complete 24-hour check-ins and machine checklists to ensure equipment readiness and safety.
- Enter and maintain detailed records of rental equipment in the computer system.
- Prepare equipment for shipping, including proper documentation and readiness checks.
- Create repair quotes for customers and write clear, detailed repair orders.
- Locate and source required parts using local vendors and vendor websites.
- Repair fabrication shop equipment as needed and provide field support for troubleshooting equipment repairs.
- Use computers for order entry, parts ordering, and email communication to support service and logistics operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant and field operations.
- Work in the Shipping and Receiving area as needed, including packing and loading customer orders of piping, valves, and fusion equipment.
- Complete daily cycle counts to support inventory accuracy.
- Receive products and equipment from vendors and verify documentation and condition.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair small diesel and gas engines.
- Strong skills in servicing and repairing centrifugal pumps and generators.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical circuits in industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to maintain and repair rental fusion equipment in a plant and field environment.
- Competence in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to accurately maintain service, repair, and maintenance records.
- Capability to complete equipment checklists and inspections within required timeframes.
- Basic computer literacy for order entry, parts ordering, record keeping, and email communication.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Experience in pneumatics and hydraulics applied to industrial or construction equipment.
- Familiarity with fabrication shop equipment and ability to perform repairs as needed.
- Experience supporting field service or troubleshooting equipment at customer sites.
- Previous experience working with shipping and receiving operations, including packing, loading, and inventory cycle counts.
- Ability to locate and source parts efficiently through local vendors and online vendor websites.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing repair quotes, writing repair orders, and maintaining equipment records.
- Willingness to perform other related duties to support operational needs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility located in Pittsburg, CA, with a typical schedule starting at 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Work takes place in a plant and distribution environment and may include time in the field supporting equipment repairs. The position involves working around industrial machinery, fusion equipment, piping, valves, and fabrication shop tools, as well as in the Shipping and Receiving area handling customer orders and vendor deliveries. The work setting is hands-on and equipment-focused, requiring comfort in an active industrial facility.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
