This role focuses on preparing and painting aerospace components in a high-volume metal finishing environment during the grave shift. You will begin by learning the priming and painting process in the booth, support painters with thorough part preparation, and ensure accurate work on a fast-paced production line while handling and moving parts throughout your shift.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare aerospace parts for painting, including cleaning, masking, and other paint prep activities according to written work instructions.
  • Learn and follow established priming and painting processes in the booth, supporting experienced painters and gradually taking on more complex tasks.
  • Move, rack, and organize parts throughout the shift to keep production flowing smoothly and maintain an orderly work area.
  • Work accurately and efficiently on a fast-paced production line, meeting quality standards and throughput expectations.
  • Lift and maneuver parts weighing up to 50 pounds safely and consistently throughout the shift.
  • Operate production and shop machinery as needed, following safety and operating procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow written instructions, job travelers, and process documentation without deviation.
  • Perform general shop and warehouse duties, including clean-up and basic housekeeping, to maintain a safe and organized facility.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance requirements related to aerospace and industrial painting processes.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing facility.
  • Experience as a machine operator in a production or industrial environment.
  • Willingness to perform additional shop duties outside of core painting tasks, including clean-up and general housekeeping.
  • Capability to lift and handle parts up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work on a production line.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and production workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing or production environments related to metal finishing or aerospace components.
  • Background in industrial painting or aerospace painting, including familiarity with HVLP spray equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including masking, cleaning, and surface preparation.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Comfort working with specialized processes such as anodizing, plating, and coating in a metal finishing facility (preferred but not required).

Work Environment

The role is based in a spacious, modern plating and finishing facility that serves Aerospace, Defense, Commercial, Recreational, and Electronics industries across North America and Europe. The environment is production-focused and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices. The facility houses a full range of processing services, including mechanical processes such as shot peening, polishing, and abrasive blasting; aluminum processing with multiple anodize chemistries, chemical conversion coating, and hard anodize; electrolytic plating including chrome, titanium cadmium, cadmium, and zinc-nickel; and a variety of coatings and paints such as primers, fuel tank coatings, topcoats, dry lubricants, and intumescent coatings. Non-destructive testing capabilities include fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle, and nital etch, along with additional processes like zinc spray, magnesium processing, and passivation. You will work around industrial equipment, racks, and booths, following appropriate safety procedures and wearing suitable work attire and protective gear as required for a manufacturing and metal finishing environment. The grave shift schedule supports continuous operations, requiring reliability, focus, and comfort working in a structured production setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
