Job Description

Make an immediate impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational environment. This rewarding contract opportunity seeks a dedicated professional to work onsite, providing expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and families to ensure students receive the individualized support and accommodations they need to thrive academically and personally.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certifications
  • Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Strong understanding of creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to a visually impaired population
  • Ability to use assistive technology, adaptive devices, and Braille instruction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering inclusion, independence, and academic progress

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve approximately 20-23 students with a range of visual needs
  • Deliver direct instruction and consultation, adapting curriculum and materials for accessibility
  • Assess student abilities and collaborate on the development and review of IEPs
  • Work closely with teachers, staff, and families to support student learning and advocate for necessary resources
  • Provide guidance on the selection and use of specialized equipment and materials
  • Maintain detailed documentation and student progress reports
