Job Description

This contract opportunity spans the entire school year and focuses on working closely with an elementary-aged student, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and activities.
What you’ll bring to this position:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Recommended EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Previous experience working in K-12 educational settings, particularly at the elementary level, preferred
- Familiarity with interpreting in classroom, small-group, and one-on-one situations
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and support staff
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies
What you’ll do:
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and school communications for an elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with instructional staff to ensure the student’s participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Assist with clarification and comprehension, fostering the student's independence and social engagement
- Adapt interpreting services to meet the changing needs of the student and classroom environment
- Maintain accurate records and collaborate with support and related service teams
