Job Description

Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A temporary pharmacist position is available at a state high-security psychiatric hospital pharmacy located in the Holts Summit, MO area. This travel assignment begins in early September and continues until a permanent pharmacist is hired. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and observes all Missouri state holidays off. No weekend or on-call coverage is required, providing a predictable schedule.

The pharmacy team includes clinical and informatics pharmacists as well as a psychiatric pharmacist resident, all supporting a well-structured work environment. This role involves primarily reviewing medication technician work products, including verifying bags flagged by inspection software, checking repackaging, bag corrections, and canister refills. You will perform barcode scanning after tech fills to ensure accuracy. While limited order verification is involved, behavioral health experience is not necessary, as direct patient contact is minimal due to the pharmacy’s location outside the secure hospital perimeter.

Training on the Oracle/Cerner order entry system and the Parata ATP2 Packager automation will be provided. Approximately three days of training is required before starting the assignment. The position requires a Missouri pharmacist license and is open to local candidates. Dress code options include business casual or scrubs in any color.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist in Missouri
  • Familiarity with clinical and dispensing pharmacy operations preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with pharmacy staff
  • Comfortable learning new technology and automation systems with training provided
  • Reliable and detail-oriented with strong medication verification skills

Location:

  • Holts Summit, Missouri (local candidates preferred)

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Closed on Missouri state holidays
  • No weekends or on-call shifts

This temporary role is ideal for pharmacists seeking a focused clinical checking assignment within a structured hospital pharmacy environment. If you meet the qualifications and have a Missouri license, apply now to help maintain pharmacy operations at this specialized psychiatric hospital.
