Job Description
Seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a contract position serving a single school for the upcoming academic year. This opportunity is located near Pawtucket, RI, and will run through the 2026-2027 school year. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting students’ educational growth, working within a collaborative school environment. Placement details, including caseload and student age group, will be determined prior to your start. This is a full-time role with assignments at just one school, providing stability and the chance to build meaningful relationships with students and staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island ESE and Teaching Licensure required
- Special Education teaching experience in a school setting is highly valued
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for a range of student needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom
- Comfortable with technology-supported instruction and record-keeping
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Assess and document students’ progress, collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and staff collaboration sessions
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals or classroom support staff as needed
- Support the school’s mission to empower students of all abilities
