Job Title: Machine Builder (Capital Equipment)

Job Description

The Machine Builder is responsible for assembling complex capital equipment and machinery in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role involves working with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems, interpreting technical drawings and schematics, and ensuring that each machine is built accurately and reliably for customer delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components into complete equipment systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and detailed work instructions to guide assembly activities.
  • Install, align, and secure machine components, subassemblies, and support systems to meet design and performance requirements.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment to perform accurate and high-quality assembly work.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues and improve assembly processes.
  • Document assembly activities, deviations, rework, and test results in accordance with company procedures.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving during assembly and testing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following company safety policies and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety within the assembly area.
  • Support production schedules by working the assigned shift and additional hours when required to meet customer demand.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in machinery assembly, equipment building, manufacturing, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience working with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills applied to complex equipment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment used for machine assembly.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, production tracking, and accessing digital work instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical certification or vocational training in a mechanical, industrial, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with reading and working from blueprints, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Comfort working in a production environment where custom equipment and unique configurations are common.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality equipment for customer delivery.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift role, typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with potential Saturday work from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. when needed to support production demands. The facility is large, clean, and well organized, with separate areas for warehouse and manufacturing activities. The warehouse portion of the building is not temperature controlled but remains very quiet, and the operation includes multiple dock doors to support material flow. You work as part of a team of approximately 15 people, with about 5 individuals assigned per shift, fostering collaboration and shared problem-solving. The work involves assembling and handling a wide range of parts for complex systems, from small components such as washers to larger metal or similar parts, using standard industrial tools and equipment in a structured production environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Libertyville, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
